Job summary

Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action VIC is seeking a Senior Asset Officer to support the management of critical plant and heavy fleet assets underpinning Forest Fire Management Victoria and emergency operations across Victoria.

You will develop asset class plans, monitor performance, manage compliance and support evidence-based decision making while leading a small team and driving continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Experience managing assets across their lifecycle, including maintenance, compliance and performance monitoring.
• Successful project management and change management delivery experience.
• The ability to develop and maintain asset class plans aligned with the Victorian Government Asset Management Accountability Framework (AMAF).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including interpreting performance, risk and financial information.
• Experience managing asset-related budgets, expenditure and performance reporting.
• Demonstrated experience building productive relationships with contractors, suppliers, stakeholders and partners.
• Leadership experience mentoring team members and promoting continuous improvement.
• A current driver's licence and willingness to obtain higher class licences if required.
• A forklift licence (LF) or willingness to obtain one if required.

Responsibilities

• Manage assets across their lifecycle, including maintenance, compliance and performance monitoring.
• Develop asset class plans aligned with AMAF and monitor performance.
• Support compliance requirements and evidence-based decision making.
• Lead a small team and contribute to continuous improvement across operations.
• Collaborate with contractors, suppliers and operational partners to improve asset performance.
• Ensure safety, reliability and operational readiness of plant and heavy fleet assets.
