Job summary

Shield Recruitment is seeking a Senior Ansible Developer to lead large-scale automation initiatives for government technology transformation. You will design, implement and maintain enterprise automation using Ansible, AAP, Python and PowerShell, delivering self-healing capabilities and integrations across ITSM, cloud and on-prem environments.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with Ansible and Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform (AAP).
• Experience developing automation solutions using Python and/or PowerShell.
• Good understanding of Ansible playbooks, roles, inventories, workflows and API integrations.
• Experience with Git, GitLab, CI/CD pipelines and Automation-as-Code practices.
• Exposure to enterprise infrastructure, Linux environments, cloud platforms, networking, security or ITSM.
• Experience delivering large-scale automation, infrastructure modernisation or technology transformation projects.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and implement enterprise automation solutions using Ansible and Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform (AAP).
• Build and maintain Ansible playbooks, roles, inventories, workflows and API integrations.
• Develop automation scripts and solutions using Python and PowerShell.
• Deliver automation capabilities across infrastructure, cloud, networking, security and ITSM environments.
• Develop automated workflows and self-healing solutions to minimise manual intervention and improve operational efficiency.
• Integrate automation solutions with enterprise platforms, infrastructure and ITSM processes.
• Implement effective logging, monitoring, error handling, failure recovery and escalation mechanisms.
• Work closely with Linux engineers, infrastructure specialists, database administrators, platform teams and project stakeholders.
• Contribute to solution architecture, technical design, testing, deployment and release management.
• Provide technical guidance and contribute to automation best practices, documentation and knowledge transfer.
