Job description

Our client is an established Australian organisation operating across a complex, project-based environment. With a significant technology and data transformation underway, the business is investing in a modern Microsoft data platform to improve how information is structured, governed and used across the organisation. This is an opportunity to join at an important stage of that journey, helping build the data and analytics capability that will support better reporting, insight and decision-making across the business.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting into the Senior Business Systems & Innovation Analyst, the Senior Analytics Engineer will play a key role in developing and maturing the organisation’s data and analytics environment.

This is primarily an Analytics Engineering role, sitting between traditional data engineering and business intelligence. You’ll work across data transformation, modelling and the semantic layer, turning data from core business systems into trusted, well-structured datasets that can be readily used for analytics and reporting.

The environment is centred around Microsoft Fabric, SQL and Power BI, so we’re looking for someone with strong analytics engineering capability who ideally also brings practical data engineering experience across areas such as ingestion, ELT, integration and modern cloud data platforms.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and maintain scalable data models across the Microsoft Fabric environment
  • Build reliable transformation and ELT processes from core enterprise systems
  • Design dimensional models and reusable datasets for analytics and reporting
  • Develop and maintain semantic models supporting Power BI and self-service analytics
  • Partner with business stakeholders to translate reporting and analytical requirements into robust data solutions
  • Improve data quality, documentation, governance and development standards
  • Support CI/CD and the ongoing evolution of the organisation’s modern data platform
