Job summary

Western Union in Sydney, Australia, invites a Senior Analyst, Quality Assurance to join the Compliance team on a 24-month fixed-term basis. This role supports AML compliance programs, policies and controls to minimize regulatory risk across the organization.

You will develop and enforce QA processes, review transactions and reports, provide feedback, and collaborate with operations, compliance and technology.

Qualifications

• Degree in commerce, business, law, finance, risk or compliance; CA qualification preferred
• 3+ years QA/quality assurance or operational risk in financial services/fintech/regulatory environment
• Solid understanding of AML/CTF obligations and AUSTRAC/APRA/ASIC regulations
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and ability to provide actionable feedback
• Experience producing QA reports, trend analysis and process improvement recommendations
• Effective stakeholder collaboration with operations, compliance and technology teams
• Certifications (e.g., CAMS, ICA) desirable but not essential

Responsibilities

Senior Analyst, Quality Assurance (Fixed Term) – Sydney, Australia

The Senior Analyst, AML Compliance is under general supervision from senior management.

This position supports the development, implementation and enforcement of policies, procedures and programs designed to minimize potential Compliance risk for Western Union and its affiliates, within the established strategies of the Regulatory Compliance department.

An opportunity to join Western Union's Compliance Team on a full-time basis for a 24-month period.

Role Responsibilities

• Helps organization management in the development of overall organisation strategies, goals and initiatives.
• Helps manage compliance requirements for assigned business units and agents.
• Supports senior management with reporting and regulatory relationships within regulatory agencies and agents.
• Supports business units' efforts to comply with company policies and procedures as they relate to compliance.
• Evaluates internal controls for the business and agents through transaction analyses, compliance reviews and training sessions.
• Responsible for follow up with the business and agents concerning review findings and communication of assessments to the appropriate internal management.

Role Requirements

• Education: A degree in commerce, business, law, finance, risk, compliance, or equivalent, with CA qualified or working towards CA (or equivalent).
• Quality Assurance Experience – 3+ years' experience in quality assurance, quality control, or operational risk within financial services, fintech, or a regulated industry.
• Regulatory & Compliance Knowledge – Understanding of AML/CTF obligations, sanctions requirements, and relevant industry regulations (AUSTRAC, APRA, ASIC) is highly regarded.
• Analytical Skills – Strong ability to review case files, transactions, or operational outputs, identify errors or gaps, and provide clear, actionable feedback.
• Attention to Detail – Exceptional accuracy in reviewing documentation, data, and processes, with a focus on consistency and compliance.
• Reporting & Insights – Experience producing QA reports, trend analysis, and recommendations for process improvement using Excel, Power BI, or similar tools.
• Stakeholder Collaboration – Ability to work closely with operations, compliance, and technology teams to embed quality standards and resolve issues.
• Process Improvement Mindset – Proven track record of identifying inefficiencies and contributing to the design of improved workflows or controls.
• Communication Skills – Strong written and verbal communication skills to deliver feedback constructively and prepare clear documentation.
• Technical Proficiency – Familiarity with case management systems, AML monitoring tools, or workflow platforms is advantageous.
• Professional Development – Relevant certifications (e.g., CAMS, ICA, Six Sigma) are desirable but not essential.
