Job summary

Latrobe Regional Health in Gippsland, Victoria, Australia, invites applications for an experienced Consultant Anaesthetist to join our perioperative services team. The role offers permanent appointment and relocation support for a UK-trained candidate.

You will provide anaesthetic and perioperative care across a broad caseload, lead junior staff, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to advance anaesthetic services within LRH.

Qualifications

• FRCA or FANZCA or equivalent specialist qualification.
• Eligibility for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
• Demonstrated senior-level anaesthetic experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively and compassionately with patients and families.
• Commitment to clinical governance and quality improvement.
• Ability to work harmoniously within a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Providing anaesthetic services across operating theatres, critical care, and procedural areas within your credentialed scope.
• Pre-operative assessment and peri-operative management of patients.
• Clinical leadership and supervision of junior medical staff, trainees, and nursing colleagues.
• Ensuring effective integration with ICU, Emergency, Surgical Services, and Patient Flow.
• Active participation in audit, quality improvement, and departmental meetings.
• Supporting LRH’s strategic and service development priorities, including innovation and expansion of perioperative services.
• Contributing to research and education within the department.
