Job summary

Westpac Group is seeking a Senior AI Engineer to own complex AI-driven protection workstreams within AI Services. You will deliver production-ready products across governed data, backend services, APIs, AI workflows and human review experiences.

The role supports financial crime prevention, fraud and AML, while preserving human decision authority. You will combine senior delivery ownership with specialist intelligence and protection engineering, ensuring evidence, provenance and safe fallbacks.

Qualifications

• Strong full-stack engineering across backend services, APIs and modern web apps.
• Experience with Go or Python, SQL, TS, React/Next.js.
• Proficient API, event and data-contract design including identity and audit.

Responsibilities

• Own design, implementation, release and operational readiness for a complex AI workstream.
• Build contracts linking data sources, events, services and models.
• Maintain traceable evidence across entities, signals and outcomes.
