Job summary

Lanson Partners is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to enable AI across production systems. The role emphasizes robust backend engineering, production-grade AI, and strong Python skills within a modern enterprise environment.

You will design integrations with enterprise APIs and data, work on agents, RAG, MCP, tool calling, and multi-step workflows, and ensure reliability through testing, CI/CD, and observability. Hybrid Sydney location with a 3-day office presence.

Qualifications

• Proven backend or software engineering experience.
• Hands-on experience building production AI or LLM-enabled systems.
• Experience with cloud environments.
• Willingness to work in Python as part of the role.
• Experience integrating APIs, services and enterprise data.
• Experience with agents, RAG, MCP, tool calling or similar patterns.
• Strong reliability, testing, monitoring and production support knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Build and support production AI systems and backend services
• Design integrations with enterprise APIs, systems and data

• Implement evaluation, guardrails and human-in-the-loop patterns
• Design for reliability, scalability, resilience and fault tolerance

• Contribute to reusable engineering patterns that can be adopted across multiple teams
