Job summary

Elanco Australia is seeking a Senior Advisor, External Innovation to enrich our R&D pipeline by sourcing external opportunities across biotech, pharma, universities and startups. You will evaluate assets and negotiate collaborations with cross-functional teams in R&D, Global Strategy, Legal and Regulatory.

Ideally you have a DVM or PhD and 7+ years in animal health research or BD, with outstanding communication and the ability to influence senior leaders and external partners in a matrix

Qualifications

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or PhD in a relevant biological field.
• At least 7 years of experience in animal health research, development, or a related business development field.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence senior leadership and external partners.

Responsibilities

• Map, evaluate, and identify external innovation opportunities from biotech, startups, universities, and industry partners.
• Lead cross-functional technical assessments with R&D, Marketing, Legal, and Business Development to ensure timely evaluations.
• Collaborate with internal scientific teams to design experiments that validate external opportunities and support de-risking.
• Manage partner interactions and negotiation processes from initial contact to alliance management.
• Monitor external landscape and engage in scientific conferences to scout for new assets and guide go/no-go decisions.
• Represent Elanco R&D in relationships with grant funding agencies and other key partners.
