As part of the Corporate Communications team, you’ll be at the heart of Melbourne’s story, creating compelling content that brings Council priorities, decisions and city stories to life. From flagship publications and digital content to high-profile speeches, your work will help position Melbourne as a leading destination to live, work, do business and visit.

Working closely with senior leaders, key stakeholders and teams across the organisation, you’ll use your exceptional writing skills, creativity and strategic communications expertise to translate complex information into clear, engaging messages that resonate with diverse audiences.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced communications professional who enjoys storytelling, thrives in a collaborative environment and wants to make a meaningful contribution to Melbourne’s reputation and future.

A little more about the role
  • Develop and deliver high-quality, engaging content across a range of public-facing channels, including Melbourne News, Melbourne Magazine, corporate eDMs and digital platforms.
  • Research, draft and refine speeches, key messages and written communications for the Lord Mayor, councillors and CEO.
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders and communications teams to identify compelling stories, develop creative content and ensure messaging aligns with Council priorities.
  • Provide strategic communications advice, manage competing priorities and deliver accurate, impactful content within agreed timelines.

Located on the traditional lands of the Bunurong Boon Wurrung and Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung peoples of the Kulin Nation, Melbourne is globally recognised as one of the most liveable, diverse, and dynamic cities.

At the heart of it all is the City of Melbourne – a passionate, purpose-driven organisation where your work truly matters. As part of Team Melbourne, you will help deliver what is most important to the people who live, work, study, visit and invest in our great city.

We are proud champions of diversity, committed to continuous improvement, and driven by a shared vision for a vibrant and sustainable future.

This is more than just a role – it is your chance to make a real impact, contribute to something bigger, and shape Melbourne’s future alongside a collaborative and forward-thinking team.
