Job summary

Southern NSW Local Health District is seeking a Senior Occupational Therapist to lead, supervise and deliver evidence-based OT services across Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospitals. The role supports 7-day coverage, provides clinical leadership and contributes to service improvement.

The role requires AHPRA registration, a Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy, and extensive acute-care experience. You will work within a multidisciplinary team, supervise staff and students, and help shape

Qualifications

• Extensive years of clinical experience in Occupational Therapy in an acute care setting with demonstrated experience to design, implement and evaluate intervention programs.
• Ability to work independently with minimum direct clinical supervision and as a member of a multidisciplinary team including demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated effective time management and organizational skills.
• Experience in supervision of professional staff and/or senior students.
• Commitment to ongoing education / professional development.
• Commitment to and experience in Quality Improvement.
• Ability to work Saturday or Sunday as required on site or provide distant supervision of Occupational Therapists working on a weekend as part of a senior OT roster.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality, evidence‑based Occupational Therapy services while supporting the clinical capability and development of colleagues across the Senior Acute Team.
• Provide comprehensive OT assessment and intervention within your scope of practice.
• Provide clinical supervision to staff and students, including onsite and remote supervision as required.
• Lead and contribute to quality improvement, service evaluation and person‑centred care initiatives.
• Work closely with multidisciplinary teams and maintain clear, accurate clinical documentation.
• Provide senior clinical support, education and leadership in a high‑turnover environment with competing demands.
• Further discussion will be required with successful candidates to negotiate work days as we will require 7 day coverage including weekends.
