Job summary

Sawyer Sourcing is partnering with an established Albury public accounting practice to recruit an experienced Senior Accountant who will take ownership of a diverse client portfolio and help drive the firm forward.

You'll work directly with clients, review and support other accountants, and collaborate with Partners to deliver great outcomes. There is real scope for leadership growth and potential equity partnership in the future.

Qualifications

• CA/CPA qualification required or equivalent.
• Strong Australian taxation and accounting knowledge.
• Experience in public practice with client-facing responsibilities.
• Ability to manage own workload and client portfolio.
• Experience reviewing the work of junior accountants.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review financial statements, tax returns, activity statements and related work.
• Manage client workflow from start to finish and billing.
• Review work by junior and intermediate accountants.
• Build long-term client relationships and deliver high-quality outcomes.
• Mentor and support developing accountants; collaborate with Partners on priorities.
• Identify opportunities to provide additional advisory services to clients.

Sawyer Sourcing is partnering with an established and growing Albury public accounting practice with three partners to find an experienced Senior Accountant who wants to become an important part of the firm's future.

This isn't a role where you'll simply sit behind the scenes processing files.
You'll work directly with clients, take ownership of a diverse portfolio, review and support the work of other accountants and work closely with the Partners to help deliver great outcomes for clients and the practice.

And for someone with the right capability and long-term fit, there is genuine scope for the role to continue developing into senior leadership and potentially partnership in the future.

What you'll be doing
You'll take responsibility for a portfolio of clients across taxation, accounting, compliance and advisory work, while becoming a trusted point of contact for those clients.

You'll also:

• Prepare and review financial statements, tax returns, activity statements and associated work
• Manage client workflow from commencement through to completion and billing
• Review work prepared by junior and intermediate accountants
• Build strong, long-term relationships with clients
• Mentor, coach and support developing accountants
• Work closely with the Partners on workflow, client matters and practice priorities
• Identify opportunities to provide additional advice and value to clients
• Help improve the way work flows through the practice

As your experience within the firm develops, so too will the opportunity to take greater responsibility for clients, people and leadership. Equity partnership is also on the table.

Who we're looking for
You'll already have strong public practice accounting experience and be comfortable managing complex taxation and accounting work.
Importantly, we're looking for more than technical ability.

You'll be someone who enjoys dealing with clients, takes ownership of their work and is comfortable helping less experienced accountants develop.

You'll bring:

• CA or CPA qualification
• Strong Australian taxation and accounting knowledge
• Experience within public practice
• The ability to manage your own workload and client portfolio
• Experience reviewing the work of other accountants
• Strong client relationship and communication skills
• A commercial approach to workflow, WIP and deadlines
• An interest in mentoring and developing others

You don't necessarily need to have held a formal management title. If you're a strong Senior Accountant who's already becoming the person others turn to for advice and you're ready for the next step, we'd like to hear from you.
