Job summary

Peabody Energy Corporation seeks a Senior Accountant to join the Financial and Operations Accounting team in Australia. This hands-on role focuses on lease accounting, month-end close, and mining-specific accounting items within a complex environment.

The position reports to the Manager Financial and Operations Accounting and offers a hands-on accounting career with exposure to IFRS and US GAAP in a mining business context.

Qualifications

• CA or CPA with 5+ years in chartered accounting or industry.
• Strong IFRS and US GAAP knowledge and differences.
• Experience preparing technical accounting memos and audit support documentation.

Responsibilities

• Lead lease accounting under IFRS and US GAAP, including contract reviews, journals, reconciliations, and system maintenance.
• Support month-end, quarter-end and year-end accounting, including journals, balance sheet reconciliations, fixed assets, inventory, royalties, and mining-specific accounting matters.
• Assist with monthly, quarterly and annual reporting deliverables.
