Public Practice - Accountants in Melbourne CBD is a well-established Chartered Accounting practice with 30+ years of experience delivering accounting, taxation and business advisory services to a diverse range of SME and family groups across property, construction, agriculture, manufacturing and hospitality.

You will own your client portfolio, build trusted relationships with business owners, review financial statements and tax returns, oversee management reporting, mentor junior staff, and work

Formación

• CA or CPA qualification preferred; CA preferred.
• Experience reviewing financial statements, tax returns and management accounts.
• Strong knowledge of business services and financial reporting.
• Proven ability to manage client relationships with business owners.
• Experience mentoring junior team members.
• Australian public practice experience is valued.
• Proactive and commercially minded with client focus.

About the Firm

Join a well-established, growing Chartered Accounting practice based in Melbourne CBD, with over 30 years of experience providing accounting, taxation and business advisory services.

This is not your traditional small accounting practice. The firm works closely with a diverse portfolio of SME clients, complex family groups and businesses across property development, construction, agriculture, manufacturing, hospitality and more.

The Opportunity

This is a hands-on position offering exposure to a varied client portfolio, management reporting, business advisory and direct client engagement. You will take ownership of your own clients, build trusted relationships and work closely with the Partners.

Candidates with previous experience reviewing financial statements, tax returns and management accounts will be particularly attractive.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage your own portfolio of SME and complex family group clients.
• Prepare and review financial statements, tax returns and trust accounts.
• Oversee and mentor junior accountants, with team sizes ranging from 1–4 staff depending on seniority.
• Prepare and review management accounts, reporting and financial analysis.
• Provide business advisory support and assist clients with strategic financial decisions.
• Liaise directly with clients, banks and external stakeholders, including assisting with finance arrangements.
• Work closely with the Partners on client strategy and business development.

Ideally, you’ll have

• Previous experience within an Australian public practice accounting firm.
• CA or CPA qualified, or working towards completion (CA preferred).
• Strong technical knowledge of business services, taxation and financial reporting.
• Previous experience reviewing work will be highly regarded.
• Confident managing client relationships and communicating with business owners.
• Experience supervising, mentoring or developing junior team members.
• Strong knowledge of MYOB and Xero; exposure to BGL and CAS will be advantageous.
• A proactive, commercially minded accountant who enjoys working closely with clients.
