Challenger Limited in Sydney is seeking a Senior Accountant — Financial Control and Reporting to own month-end reporting, balance sheet reconciliations and consolidation entries for multiple entities, with a focus on accuracy and timely ASX reporting.

Based in Sydney CBD with a flexible 3 days in the office, 2 days from home, this role offers exposure to statutory reporting, finance systems and collaboration across Tax, Risk and Investment teams, plus a suite of Challenger benefits.

Competenze

• CA/CPA qualified or equivalent with strong experience in statutory reporting, financial statement preparation, consolidations, balance sheet ownership and financial control.
• End-to-end experience preparing financial statements and disclosures, with strong balance sheet and reconciliation capability.
• Understanding of how source systems feed the general ledger and how accounting decisions affect reporting across an organisation.

• Take genuine ownership of complex reporting across month-end, statutory accounts and balance sheet control.
• Resolve accounting issues by tracing data origins and understanding data flows in interconnected systems.
• Own month-end reporting, balance sheet reconciliations and consolidation entries for your entities.
• Prepare statutory financial statements and disclosures, including half-year and year-end reporting for ASX reporting.
• Investigate variances and anomalies by comparing source data and tracing root causes.
• Lead on unfamiliar or complex accounting matters and recommend a way forward.
• Consider how accounting decisions affect management reporting, statutory accounts, tax and audit, and provide auditors with clear evidence.
• Strengthen controls, simplify processes and remove unnecessary manual work or recurring issues.
