Job summary

Stanley College seeks a Senior Accountant to manage day-to-day financial operations, including ledger, payables, reconciliations, and monthly reporting. The role drives controls and process improvements alongside the Group Accountant and Financial Controller.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in a similar role, with autonomous work style and a continuous improvement mindset. Multi-site experience is a plus, with national police checks required.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Accounting, Finance or Business (or equivalent experience).
• 3+ years' experience in a similar accounts or senior accountant role.
• Solid working knowledge of accounts payable, reconciliations and month-end processes.
• Comfortable working autonomously.
• A genuine improvement mindset, enjoys finding a better, more efficient way of doing things.
• Experience in a multi-site, education or services business is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Process accounts payable and calculate agent commissions.
• Upload approved payment files (supplier and payroll) via Commbiz.
• Prepare month-end journals and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Contribute to the preparation of accurate, timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
• Support monitoring of cash flow, working capital and the financial health of the business.
• Manage financial reconciliations and end-of-month reporting processes.
• Support compliance with relevant legislation, accounting standards, tax regulations and audit requirements.
• Help maintain strong internal controls to safeguard Group assets and ensure accurate financial data.
• Assist with the coordination of external audit activities, preparing schedules and information as required.
• Flag financial risks and process gaps to the Group Accountant and Financial Controller.
• Actively contribute to system improvement initiatives (e.g. procurement processes), looking for opportunities to simplify and automate.
• Help evaluate and implement new financial tools and technologies, including AI-enabled process improvements.
• Support data integrity and security across financial operations.
• Participate in Group-wide finance projects and initiatives as required.
