Job summary

Carey Group is seeking a Senior Accountant or Client Manager to own a portfolio of clients, advising beyond compliance with autonomy to manage relationships. The role offers location flexibility and direct access to experienced Partners, with opportunities to broaden experience across accounting, tax, assurance and financial planning.

You’ll work closely with Partners on complex matters, including growth conversations, and enjoy an early finish every Friday in a supportive, long-term career

Qualifications

• 5+ years in Business Services, Tax or Advisory.
• Accounting degree or related discipline required.
• Strong technical accounting and taxation knowledge.
• Proven track record in managing client relationships and delivering quality outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Manage your own portfolio of clients as their trusted advisor.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with business owners and key stakeholders.
• Prepare and review financial statements, tax returns and compliance work.
• Move into advisory work: business planning, structuring and growth conversations.
• Work with Partners on complex client matters and strategy.
• Identify opportunities to add value beyond compliance.
• Build and maintain relationships with clients, primary producers and rural businesses.

What you’ll do

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing your own portfolio of clients as their trusted advisor
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with business owners and key stakeholders
• Preparing and reviewing financial statements, tax returns and compliance work
• Moving into advisory work: business planning, structuring and growth conversations
• Working directly with Partners on complex client matters and strategy
• Identifying opportunities to add value beyond compliance
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, primary producers and rural businesses

What you’ll bring

We’re looking for an experienced Senior accountant who is ready to take ownership and lead:

• 5+ years' experience in Business Services, Tax or Advisory
• CA or CPA preferred but not necessary
• A degree in Accounting, Commerce or a related discipline
• Strong technical accounting and taxation knowledge
• A track record of managing client relationships and delivering quality outcomes
• Leadership qualities and confidence to guide and mentor team members
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
• Experience with Xero, MYOB or similar accounting software
