Job summary

RSM Australia is seeking a Senior Accountant who will go beyond traditional number-crunching, analysing financial information, preparing reports, and maintaining records of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liability, and other financial activities for the Firm’s clients in Australia. You will mentor graduates, collaborate with Partners, and contribute to a culture that values teamwork and professional development.

Location: Level 2/70 Kent St, Deakin ACT 2600.

Qualifications

• Business / Commerce degree with Accounting Major (Essential).
• Completion of CA or equivalent (Desirable).
• 2–4 years in a similar role; strong communication and attention to detail; autonomous and team-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Prepare work papers with clear evidence for decision making.
• Apply knowledge of clients' environment to deliver tailored advice.
• Mentor graduates and develop the next generation of accountants.
• Prepare financial statements compliant with current standards.
• Prepare documentation for Partners for client meetings and presentations.
• Research and resolve complex accounting issues.
• Prepare and analyse management accounting reports.
• Review tax and FBT returns for accuracy and compliance.

About the role:

As a Senior Accountant, you will go beyond traditional number-crunching, providing valuable insights that help our clients thrive. In this role you will analyse financial information, prepare financial reports, and maintain meticulous records of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liability, or other financial activities for the Firm’s clients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare clear, concise and accurate work papers, that serve as evidence of work performed and the foundation for decision making;
• Apply your knowledge of the clients business environment and industry positioning to deliver tailored advice;
• Act as a mentor/buddy to graduates, sharing your knowledge and helping them with their work, to shape the next generation of accountants
• Prepare financial statements that comply with all current, legal and accounting reporting standards;
• Prepare documentation for Partners for client meetings and presentation ;
• Research, identify and resolve all complex accounting issues;
• Prepare and analyse management accounting reports; and
• Conduct detailed reviews of tax and FBT returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

About you:

Education Requirements:

Essential

• Business / Commerce degree with Accounting Major

Desirable

• Completion of CA or equivalent

Salary: Between $86,000 - $103,000 (including super), based on experience
