Job summary

William Buck invites a Senior Accountant to join its Agribusiness Business Advisory team. You will work with diverse agribusiness clients across cropping, livestock, irrigation, viticulture and horticulture, delivering strategic tax advice, compliance and accounting services.

You will review junior work, ensure financial accuracy, and identify opportunities to help clients grow, navigate seasonal pressures and succession planning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree inCommerce or Business with accounting/finance focus.
• CAANZ Chartered Accountant or CPA certification required.
• 3+ years in public practice in a similar role.
• Proficiency with MYOB, Xero and QuickBooks desirable.
• Data analysis skills and MS Office proficiency expected.

Responsibilities

• Understand trading and ownership structures for clients.
• Prepare financial statements for trusts and companies with reconciliations.
• Prepare and review income tax returns for individuals, trusts and companies.
• Handle BAS, IAS and FBT lodgments.
• Compile Division 7A/UPE loan summaries and documentation.
• Manage client correspondence with the ATO.
• Assist with indirect taxes (GST, FBT, Payroll, Stamp Duty).
• Develop tax planning strategies and client advice.

About the role
Love numbers, strategy and the ag sector? We’re looking for a Senior Accountant to work alongside a diverse range of agribusiness clients across cropping, livestock, irrigation, viticulture and horticulture.

This is more than a compliance role. You’ll partner with primary producers and agribusiness operators on tax compliance, tax planning, cashflow forecasting, succession planning, business restructures and strategic advice—helping clients navigate seasonal pressures, growth opportunities and generational change.

You’ll be someone who understands the rhythms of regional business, builds trusted relationships and can turn complex numbers into clear, practical advice. Description of the role:

As a Senior Accountant in our Agribusiness Business Advisory team, whilst much of your work will be devoted to agribusiness, you will still have opportunity to work across a diverse range of clients and industries, focusing on strategic tax advice, compliance, and accounting services. You will be responsible for reviewing the work of junior team members, maintaining financial accuracy for clients, and identifying opportunities that help them achieve their business goals.

Key responsibilities

• Understanding suitable trading and ownership structures
• Prepare financial statements for trading and investment trusts and companies, including all associated reconciliations and working papers.
• Prepare and reviewincome tax returnsfor individuals, trusts, and companies, including all associated schedules.
• Handle preparation and lodgment ofBAS,IAS, andFBT returns.
• CompileDiv 7A / UPE loan summaries, including understanding loan documentation and annual repayment requirements.
• Manage client correspondence with theATO
• Assist clients with indirect tax matters, such asGST,FBT,Payroll, andStamp Duty.
• Prepare detailed and accurate tax planning strategies and advice for clients.
