Job summary

MW Recruitment is seeking a Senior Accountant for a Toowoomba-based business services and tax practice. You will own an established client portfolio, act as the main contact for clients, and guide junior staff.

You'll review work from the wider team, prepare and review financial statements and tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts, partnerships and SMSFs, and provide proactive tax planning beyond compliance. This role offers regional lifestyle and clear career growth.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting or Commerce, with CA or CPA (completed or near).
• 3–5 years in Australian public practice, business services.
• Confident when working directly with clients.
• Experience reviewing work or guiding junior staff; strong tax knowledge.

The role

This senior, client-facing role puts you at the center of your clients’ business. You’ll own an established portfolio and be their main point of contact and trusted advisor. The role is based in Toowoomba.

What you’ll do

• Manage your own portfolio of business clients and build long-term relationships
• Prepare and review financial statements and tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts, partnerships and SMSFs
• Review work prepared by the firm’s offshore team and give feedback
• Give clients proactive tax planning and advice, beyond compliance
• Liaise with clients, the ATO and other advisors
• Support and guide junior team members

What you’ll bring

• A degree in Accounting or Commerce, plus CA or CPA (completed or nearly there)
• 3-5 years of Australian public practice experience in business services
• Confidence working directly with clients
• Some experience reviewing work or supporting junior staff
• Strong technical knowledge of tax and compliance
