Job summary

MW Recruitment is seeking a Senior Accountant for a client-facing role in Toowoomba with regular travel to the Warwick office. You will own a growing client portfolio, supervise offshore work, and provide tax planning and advisory services to a diversified client base.

Ideal candidates hold a Accounting/Commerce degree with CA/CPA qualifications (or nearing completion) and have 5+ years in Australian public practice, particularly in business services, with strong client leadership skills.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting or Commerce with CA/CPA near completion.
• 5+ years of Australian public practice experience in business services.
• Confident working directly with clients and owning relationships.
• Experience reviewing work and supporting junior and offshore team members, with leadership responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Taking ownership of a portfolio of business clients and building long-term relationships.
• Preparing and reviewing financial statements and tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts, partnerships and SMSFs.
• Leading and reviewing work from the firm's offshore team, including allocating work and quality control.
• Tax planning and proactive advisory for clients.
• Liaising with clients, the ATO and other advisors.
• Mentoring and supporting junior team members.
• Travelling to Warwick to meet clients and support the local office.

About the firm

Our client is a well-established, forward-thinking accounting and advisory firm with offices in Toowoomba and Warwick. They look after a loyal, diverse base of business and individual clients across the Darling Downs. The firm is growing and invests in its people, with a clear focus on developing future leaders.

The Role

This is a senior, client-facing role for an accountant who is ready to step up. You will take ownership of an established client portfolio, build strong long-term relationships and act as the main point of contact and trusted advisor to your clients. You will be based in Toowoomba, with regular travel to the Warwick office and a company car provided.

Key responsibilities include:
