Job summary

BSE General is seeking a CA-qualified Senior Accountant to manage multi-entity financials, tax, audit and reporting from our North Sydney base. You will work across seven entities, providing both technical accounting and hands-on operational finance, including invoicing and cashflow management.

You will partner with state leaders and directors, delivering insights on profitability, budgeting and compliance while supporting the finance team’s development. Hybrid work available.

Qualifications

• Experience in statutory reporting, external audit and Australian tax compliance.
• Multi-entity environment exposure including intercompany transactions.
• Strong financial modelling and sound analysis capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead month-end and year-end close with ledger integrity across the Group.
• Prepare statutory statements in line with AASB and Corporations Act.
• Coordinate external audit and liaise with auditors.
• Prepare tax returns (income tax, BAS, IAS, FBT) and tax advice.
• Deliver monthly/quarterly management reporting and budgeting support.
• Monitor project financial performance and provide insights to leaders.
• Oversee operational finance including invoicing, receivables, payables, cashflow.
• Provide financial modelling for planning and growth initiatives.
• Mentor junior/graduate finance staff.

The role

This is a hands-on role for a Senior Accountant who enjoys breadth. Rather than overseeing one slice of the numbers, you will have a whole-of-group view across BSE's seven entities, covering financial accounting, tax, audit, compliance and reporting, as well as day-to-day operational finance. Based in our North Sydney office, you will support our national business.

You will report to the Financial Controller and work closely with them. You will be responsible for the technical and operational delivery of the work, while the Financial Controller holds overall accountability. You will also partner with State Leads, Directors and Entity Leads, helping them understand project profitability and make sound commercial decisions.

The role combines technical work with hands-on operational finance, including invoicing and receivables, so you will see the numbers from transaction through to statutory accounts.

What you will do

• Lead month-end and year-end close, and maintain general ledger integrity, balance sheet reconciliations and intercompany reconciliations across the Group.
• Prepare statutory financial statements in line with Australian Accounting Standards (AASB) and the Corporations Act.
• Coordinate the annual external audit and act as day-to-day contact for the external auditors.
• Prepare and lodge income tax returns, BAS, IAS and FBT returns, support tax effect accounting, and provide day-to-day tax advice, working with external tax advisors and escalating complex matters as needed.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly management reporting that supports reporting to the CEO, Board and Management Team, and contribute to budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
• Monitor project financial performance in Total Synergy, elevate at-risk projects and provide insights to State Leads and Directors.
• Maintain the Group's statutory compliance calendar, including ASIC filings, payroll tax, superannuation, workers' compensation and insurances, help maintain statutory registers and support adherence to delegated authorities.
• Identify financial risks, support internal control testing and help strengthen the Group's financial controls and processes.
• Look after operational finance, including invoicing for at least one Group entity, interstate and national resource invoicing, accounts receivable and payable, and cashflow forecasting.
• Provide financial modelling and scenario analysis to support Group planning and growth initiatives.
• Share your knowledge and support the development of junior and graduate members of the Finance team.

About you

• Chartered Accountant (CA) qualified.
• Experience across statutory reporting, external audit and Australian tax compliance, including income tax, BAS, IAS and FBT.
• Sound working knowledge of AASB standards and Corporations Act requirements.
• Experience in a multi-entity environment, including intercompany transactions, is highly regarded.
• Strong financial modelling and analysis skills.
• Confident explaining financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
• Organised, detail-focused and proactive, with a habit of raising issues early.
• Comfortable with hands-on operational finance, including invoicing, receivables and payables, alongside technical work.
• Experience with Total Synergy or other project-based financial systems would be an advantage.
