Job summary

Sharp & Carter Finance & Accounting Perth is seeking a Senior Accountant to join the finance team in Central CBD. The role blends financial and management accounting with commercial analysis, delivering accurate reporting and meaningful insights for business performance.

You will lead month-end/ year-end processes, prepare management accounts, and partner with stakeholders to drive improvements in financial controls and planning.

Qualifications

• CA/CPA qualification or equivalent required.
• Minimum 5 years of accounting experience.
• Strong month-end, financial reporting and reconciliation skills.
• Solid management accounting and commercial analysis capabilities.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
• Excellent Excel skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication with non-finance stakeholders.
• Mining, resources, engineering, construction or services sector experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead month-end and year-end financial reporting processes.

Opportunity

We are partnering with a well-established business within the mining services sector to recruit a Senior Accountant into a key position within their finance team. This is a broad role suited to an experienced accountant who enjoys a blend of financial accounting, management accounting, and commercial analysis. You will play an important role in maintaining the integrity of the financial function while providing meaningful insights to support business performance and decision-making. Key Responsibilities

• Lead month-end and year-end financial reporting processes
• Prepare management accounts, financial reports and variance analysis
• Complete balance sheet reconciliations and maintain the general ledger
• Prepare journals, accruals, prepayments and other month-end adjustments
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and financial planning
• Analyse business performance, costs and key financial drivers
• Provide financial insights and commentary to senior stakeholders
• Support cash flow reporting and working capital management
• Assist with statutory reporting, compliance and audit requirements
• Partner with operational teams to improve financial performance and reporting
• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, systems and controls
• Contribute to ad hoc commercial analysis and projects as required

About You

We are looking for a technically strong and commercially minded accountant who can confidently operate across both financial and management accounting.

You will ideally have:

• CA/CPA qualification or similar
• 5+ years' accounting experience
• Strong month-end, financial reporting and reconciliation experience
• Solid management accounting and commercial analysis capability
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
• Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial systems
• Excellent attention to detail and analytical ability
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work with stakeholders outside of finance
• Experience within mining, resources, engineering, construction or professional services will be highly regarded
