Job summary

Rezonate Recruitment in Melbourne’s south-east is representing a well-established boutique tax practice seeking an experienced Tax Accountant to step into a review-focused role. The team is close-knit, partner-led, and values proactive input with clear progression toward partnership.

You’ll prepare and review tax compliance for individuals and entities, manage SMSF work, liaise with auditors and clients, and provide occasional bookkeeping support.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ tax compliance experience in a boutique or mid-tier practice.
• Proven review experience (essential).
• SMSF experience highly regarded but not essential.
• Self-driven and proactive with good client communication.

Our client is a well-established, boutique firm in Melbourne’s south-east, looking for an experienced Tax Accountant ready to step into (or continue in) a review role. It’s a close-knit, family-oriented team where your input is valued, and where progression to partner isn’t just talk: one of the current partners started as a staff member.

The Firm

Partner-led practice with 20+ years of partner experience

Diverse, non-specialised client base including manufacturing, hospitality, medical, and import/export/fashion (turnovers up to $100M)

Growing SMSF book of 40 funds, mostly in accumulation phase

Cloud-based, using Xero and QuickBooks

The Role

Prepare and review tax compliance for individuals and entities

Review SMSF work, answer client queries, and liaise with auditors, clients and partners

Assist with tax planning engagements

Provide occasional bookkeeping support (mostly outsourced)

Take ownership of your client work with real autonomy

About You

5+ years’ tax compliance experience in a small, boutique or mid-tier practice

Proven review experience (essential)

SMSF experience highly regarded but not essential

Self-driven: you manage your own workload without needing to be chased

Happy to take responsibility, proactive, and open to feedback

Confident communicating with clients, auditors and partners

CA/CPA qualified or progressing (preferred)
