Job summary

Telstra is seeking an experienced Security Engineering - Excellence & Continuous Improvement Lead to shape engineering standards, drive maturity and embed resilient practices across Telstra’s cyber security technology landscape in Melbourne.

The role collaborates across engineering, operations and change teams to lift DevSecOps, govern reusable patterns, and translate compliance outcomes into prioritised improvements, with a focus on measurable, sustainable outcomes.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years in cyber security, engineering or operations with embedded standards experience.
• Experience establishing standards, baselines, governance across multiple teams.
• Understanding of lifecycle management, BAU, program delivery and change management.
• Ability to translate compliance outcomes into prioritized actions and outcomes.
• Knowledge of DevSecOps and secure engineering practices for enterprise environments.
• Proven ability to influence without direct authority across cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Define, maintain and mature security engineering standards and measures.
• Improve technology operations, lifecycle practices and change management.
• Govern reusable security patterns with Automation to ensure adoption.
• Translate TAP outcomes and assurance findings into prioritised actions.
• Lead uplift of DevSecOps and embedding practice improvements in delivery teams.
• Identify systemic issues and drive cross-functional remediation with measurable results.
• Develop reusable resilience guidance and support its adoption across security tech.
