Join to apply for the Security Engineering Senior Engineer (Endpoint Security) role at Telstra

As a Senior Security Engineer, you’ll step into a pivotal role as a recognised authority across information, engineering, and cyber security. Your deep expertise in security technologies, cloud platforms, and enterprise networks will enable you to design, implement, and continuously enhance scalable security controls that protect our people, processes, and technology.

You’ll be at the forefront of embedding secure‑by‑design principles throughout the Security Engineering lifecycle, driving the development and integration of advanced security technologies. Your focus will be on automating Security control validation and compliance, enhancing system resilience against evolving threats, and delivering robust security capabilities. From platform hardening and incident response to root cause analysis and systemic risk reduction, your work will span both engineering and operational domains, shaping the future of secure technology solutions.

Your strong grasp of emerging technologies and real‑world attack vectors will position you to deliver secure, user‑focused solutions that empower innovation while safeguarding Telstra’s digital assets. As a trusted strategic contributor, you’ll shape our cyber defence posture and influence our technology roadmap, working closely with teams across Cyber, DevOps, Engineering, and the business.

What you will do
  • Integrate security by embedding tools and controls to enable secure and efficient technology and software delivery. Automate testing, compliance, and uplift Telstra’ security posture by utilising tools such as Qualys and CyberArk.
  • Advance DevSecOps practices by developing and maintaining automation scripts and platform integrations using Python, YAML, and REST APIs. Champion infrastructure‑as‑code security and automated policy enforcement.
  • Embed security across Telstra’s wider landscape working closely with development and operations teams to ensure secure‑by‑design principles are consistently applied across applications, infrastructure, and cloud platforms.
  • Take an active role in threat detection and response, managing incidents and investigations using platforms such as CrowdStrike, Cylance, and Obsidian. Coordinate response efforts and provide root cause and impact analysis.
What you bring
  • Security control design and implementation.
  • Demonstrated success in driving technical and security leadership.
  • Zero Trust architecture (cloud and on‑premises).
  • Endpoint and identity protection (e.g., CrowdStrike, BeyondTrust, Lookout).
  • Privileged access and secrets management (e.g., CyberArk, LastPass).
  • Data and API protection (e.g., Cequence, Netskope, Microsoft Purview).
  • Work‑life integration – flexibility around where and when you work.
  • 16 weeks paid parental leave for primary and secondary carers.
  • Laptop/Device allowance renewed every 2 years.
  • Purchased Annual Leave scheme.
  • Discounted Telstra products and services.
