Select how often (in days) to receive an alert:

Optus is an Australian telecommunications company, delivering more than 11 million services to our customers every day across mobile, broadband and digital solutions.

As the Security Culture and Engagement Lead, you will help shape how our employees think about and act on cyber security, physical security, privacy, and risk every day.

This role sits at the intersection of security, communications, change management, and culture. You will translate complex security risks into messages, campaigns, learning experiences, and programs that drive meaningful behaviour change. Working closely with stakeholders across Cyber Security, Physical Security, Risk, People & Culture, and Internal Communications, you will make security visible, relevant, and practical for employees across the business.

We are looking for someone who combines strong communication and engagement skills with a genuine understanding of security and risk. Someone who can challenge thinking, influence stakeholders, build trusted relationships, and create programs that help people make better decisions when it matters most.

If you are passionate about changing behaviours, building culture, and helping organisations strengthen their human layer of defence, this is an opportunity to make a genuine impact.

What You’ll Do

Lead and evolve Optus' enterprise-wide Security Culture and Engagement program across cyber security, physical security, protective security, privacy, and risk.

Design and deliver engaging awareness campaigns, communications, events, and learning experiences that drive lasting behaviour change and improve security outcomes.

Apply structured change management approaches to embed secure behaviours and support adoption of security initiatives across the organisation.

Build and grow a Security Champions network that creates advocates and influences positive security behaviours across business units.

Partner with leaders, People & Culture, Internal Communications, and security teams to develop content, toolkits, and resources that make complex risks simple and actionable.

Develop compelling multi-channel content including presentations, videos, written communications, digital campaigns, SharePoint content, and leadership communications.

Use behavioural insights, engagement metrics, human risk indicators, and feedback to continuously improve campaigns and demonstrate measurable impact.

Act as a trusted advisor to the business on security culture, awareness, engagement, and organisational change initiatives.

Build relationships across industry and maintain awareness of emerging trends, threats, and leading practices in security culture and behaviour change.

What You Bring

Experience in security culture, cyber awareness, risk culture, change management, internal communications, learning, or employee engagement roles within a complex organisation.

A strong understanding of cyber security, risk, privacy, physical security, or resilience concepts and the ability to translate them into meaningful behaviours for diverse audiences.

Proven experience driving behaviour change initiatives using structured methodologies such as PROSCI, ADKAR, or similar change management approaches.

Outstanding communication, presentation, storytelling, and content creation skills across written, visual, video, and face-to-face channels.

Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships, influence senior leaders, and navigate challenging conversations with confidence and credibility.

A pragmatic and solutions-focused mindset, with the confidence to challenge existing ways of working and find better outcomes when there is no established playbook.

Strong project management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Experience creating and facilitating workshops, awareness events, ambassador programs, or champion networks.

A data-driven approach, using insights and metrics to measure effectiveness, demonstrate value, and continuously improve outcomes.

A genuine passion for helping people make better security decisions and creating a culture where security is everyone's responsibility.
