Job summary

Optus is seeking a Consulting Architect to partner with senior leaders across banking, insurance, and government sectors to design and deliver enterprise‑wide technology strategies that drive business transformation. As a Consulting Architect, you will partner with senior leaders across the banking, insurance, and government sectors to design and deliver enterprise-wide technology strategies that drive business transformation. Acting as a trusted advisor, you will translate complex business challenges into innovative, commercially sound technology solutions, leveraging expertise across ICT, cloud, applications, security, and digital transformation.

You will lead major customer engagements, shaping solution roadmaps, influencing C-suite stakeholders, and developing compelling business cases that align technology investment with strategic objectives. Working across multidisciplinary teams, you will drive large-scale bids and transformation initiatives while building trusted executive relationships and delivering measurable business outcomes for customers.

The Day to Day

• Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior stakeholders, including C-suite executives, across strategic customer accounts within the banking, insurance, and government sectors, acting as a trusted advisor on technology strategy and business transformation.


• Lead the development of enterprise-wide technology strategies, roadmaps, and transformation programs, translating complex business challenges into innovative, commercially viable solutions across ICT, cloud, applications, security, and managed services.


• Own end-to-end solution design and major customer engagements, coordinating multidisciplinary teams to develop complex proposals, bids, tenders, and tailored solutions that deliver measurable business and customer outcomes.


• Drive thought leadership through market insights, competitive analysis, and emerging technology trends, partnering with customers, vendors, product teams, and engineering stakeholders to shape strategic technology direction and future opportunities.


• Act as the primary link between sales, product, engineering, and delivery teams, ensuring solutions are technically robust, commercially sound, and successfully implemented while contributing to revenue growth, customer retention, and strategic business objectives.

What You Bring

Strategic & Business Acumen:

• Extensive experience in ICT and telecommunications, providing high-level technical consulting and architectural support to enterprise customers, with demonstrated expertise in the Financial Services and/or Telecommunications sectors.


• Proven capability in developing long-term customer relationships, strategic account planning, and creating technology roadmaps and strategies that align with enterprise business objectives.


• Advanced commercial and contract understanding, with experience developing commercial artifacts including Preliminary Statements of Work (PSOW), Work Orders, pricing models, and financial justifications including ROI analysis.


• Strong track record leading bid responses (RFPs, RFIs, RFTs), including technical design, solution articulation, and cross-functional team coordination.

Technical Expertise (Core Required):

• Contact Centre platforms – hands‑on experience designing and implementing enterprise contact centre solutions (NiCE CXone and Cognigy highly desirable; additional experience with Genesys Cloud/PureCloud, Microsoft Dynamics 365, AWS Connect, Avaya, or Verint considered a strong advantage).


• Enterprise Networking – deep knowledge of LAN switching, wireless networks, and campus infrastructure (Cisco, Meraki, Aruba), including design, implementation, and optimization.


• Security & SASE – proven experience with modern security architectures, Zero Trust frameworks, and Secure Access Service Edge solutions (Palo Alto Networks, Zscaler).


• WAN & SD-WAN – comprehensive understanding of wide area networking including SD-WAN, MPLS, dedicated fibre, and hybrid connectivity models (Palo Alto Prisma/Viptela, Meraki SD-WAN, or equivalent platforms).


• Cloud Architecture – general knowledge of cloud platform architecture and cloud‑native services (AWS, Azure, GCP), including hybrid and multi‑cloud strategies.

Frameworks & Qualifications:

• Degree or formal qualification in Telecommunications or Information Technology, supported by relevant industry/vendor certifications (e.g., Cisco CCNA/CCNP/CCIE, Palo Alto Networks certifications, ITIL, TOGAF, or equivalent).


• Strong background in enterprise‑wide ICT architecture, with proficiency in service management and architectural frameworks such as ITIL and TOGAF.


• Exceptional ability to translate complex technical concepts and architectures into clear business value propositions, with proven experience presenting and influencing at multiple organizational levels from technical teams to C‑suite executives.


• Advanced communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to articulate multi‑domain solutions (networking, security, contact centre, cloud) in an integrated, customer‑centric manner.


• Strong analytical, documentation, and technology proficiency, with advanced skills across productivity tools, architecture modelling tools, and technical documentation.
