The Role

We are seeking a pragmatic Security Architect to join our team on a permanent basis. This is a true consultative role where you may be involved in several client projects at once, so the ability to quickly understand business needs, prioritise effectively, and manage your time well is essential.

You’ll be the person who can join a conversation, quickly grasp what’s required, and help steer the project in the right direction – ensuring security is embedded from the outset. You’ll work closely with clients to optimise how things are done, both within their environments and internally at Cliffside.

Deep cloud expertise, particularly in AWS and Azure, is vital, along with a willingness to continually learn, adapt, and improve processes. We are looking for someone who is an excellent communicator, responsible, reasonable, and comfortable operating in both strategic and hands-on capacities.

Key Responsibilities

Engage with multiple client projects, understanding their needs and delivering pragmatic, security-focused solutions.
Design, develop, and guide implementation of secure-by-design patterns across a variety of technologies, with a strong emphasis on AWS and Azure environments.
Provide expert guidance on cloud and SaaS transformation projects, ensuring security is integrated effectively.
Work collaboratively with client stakeholders, project teams, and Cliffside colleagues to ensure security considerations are addressed early and effectively.
Optimise processes and architectural approaches to improve security and operational efficiency for both clients and Cliffside.

Qualification and Skills

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in cybersecurity architecture, ideally within the financial services industry.
Strong expertise in both AWS and Azure cloud security architectures.
Proficiency with threat analysis frameworks.
Solid knowledge of regulatory standards such as APRA CPS 234, and security frameworks like NIST CSF and the Essential 8.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field; relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CCSP or SABSA are highly regarded.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills: able to explain complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in parallel.
