Job summary

Chandler Macleod is assisting AGL with an experienced Security Architect to shape and govern enterprise security architecture across cloud, hybrid, on-premises and OT environments. You will lead threat modelling, risk assessments, and secure design activities to embed security into delivery lifecycles.

You will work with technology, architecture, cyber security, risk and project teams, providing architectural guidance and delivering artefacts such as roadmaps, diagrams and threat models.

Qualifications

• Experience as Security Architect in large, complex environments.
• Strong knowledge of security architecture frameworks (SABSA, TOGAF, NIST CSF, ISO 27001).
• Hands-on design across IAM, network/security controls, and cloud security.

Job description

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Security Architect to join our client AGL on a large enterprise organisation undergoing significant technology and cyber security transformation. This is a six month contract job opportunity based in Melbourne CBD in a hybrid working environment.

This role will play a key part in shaping and governing enterprise security architecture across complex IT and Operational Technology (OT) environments, ensuring security is embedded into technology strategy, solution design, and delivery initiatives.

About the Role As the Security Architect, you will provide strategic security leadership and architectural guidance across cloud, hybrid, on-premises, and OT platforms. You will partner with technology, architecture, cyber security, risk, and project teams to deliver secure-by-design solutions aligned with business objectives and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain security architecture standards, principles, patterns, and reference architectures.
• Provide expert security architecture guidance across cloud, hybrid, on-premises, and OT environments.
• Conduct security architecture reviews for major programs and technology initiatives.
• Lead threat modelling, security risk assessments, and secure solution design activities.
• Define and oversee implementation of security controls across:
  • Identity & Access Management (IAM)
  • Network Security
  • Application Security
  • Data Protection
  • Security Monitoring
  • Zero Trust Architectures
• Contribute to architecture governance and security decision-making forums.
• Produce high-quality security architecture artefacts including roadmaps, diagrams, and threat models.
• Partner with enterprise architects, project teams, cyber security specialists, and business stakeholders to embed security throughout the delivery lifecycle.
• Provide recommendations on security risks, mitigations, and compensating controls.
• Stay abreast of emerging threats, technologies, and regulatory requirements.

About You

You are a highly experienced Security Architect with a strong background designing secure enterprise solutions and influencing senior stakeholders.

Key Skills & Experience

• Proven experience in a Security Architect role within large and complex enterprise environments.
• Strong understanding of security architecture frameworks such as:
  • SABSA
  • TOGAF
  • NIST Cyber Security Framework
  • ISO 27001
• Extensive experience designing secure architectures across:
  • AWS, Azure and/or GCP
  • Hybrid environments
  • Traditional on-premises infrastructure
• Deep expertise in IAM, network security, application security, cloud security, data protection, and security monitoring.
• Hands-on experience with threat modelling, risk assessments, and secure solution architecture.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills with the ability to influence technical and business leaders.
• Experience using architecture modelling and diagramming tools such as ArchiMate, Visio, or Lucidchart.
• Tertiary qualification in Cyber Security, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
