Downer Group in Australia is seeking an Electrical Secondary Systems Engineer to join our Power engineering team in Brisbane and Adelaide. You will design and deliver secondary systems for high-voltage substations and collaborate with project teams, clients, and suppliers.

This role offers a flexible environment, career growth, and the chance to work on major infrastructure projects within a leading ASX-listed company. You should have HV substation experience and RPEQ accreditation.

Competenze

• Must have design, construction or commissioning experience on utility substations.
• Electrical engineering qualification is required.
• Five years' experience in substation electrical engineering with RPEQ accreditation.
• Knowledge of HV substation design, layouts and T&D components.
• Familiarity with secondary protection, SCADA, transformer monitoring, and AC/DC supply systems.
• Ability to develop and read single-line diagrams, logic diagrams, and cable schedules.
• Experience producing design packages and drawing registers.
• Understanding of QA processes across the project lifecycle.

The Opportunity

Downer's Energy & Utilities business is seeking an Electrical Engineer, Secondary Systems to join our Power engineering team, and will have specific expereince in Design, Construction or Commissioning of Utility Substation.

In this role, you will contribute to the design and delivery of secondary systems for high-voltage substations, producing accurate engineering designs, models, reports, settings and technical documentation. Working closely with the Principal Engineer, project teams, clients, subcontractors and suppliers, you will help deliver high-quality design packages that meet project, safety, quality, budget and schedule requirements.

This is an excellent opportunity for an electrical engineer with substation experience who wants to strengthen their technical capability, contribute to major power infrastructure projects and progress towards leading an engineering design team

What we are looking for

• Must have Design, Construction or Commissioning of Utility Substation experience
• Qualification Electrical Engineering
• Five years' experience in substation electrical engineering & RPEQ accredited
• Knowledge of high-voltage substation design, layouts and transmission and distribution network components
• Understanding of secondary protection and automation systems, including protection IEDs, SCADA control and monitoring, transformer monitoring and control, and AC and DC supply systems
• The ability to develop, read and design single-line diagrams, logic diagrams, electrical schematics, panel layouts and cable schedules
• Experience preparing comprehensive design packages, technical documents and drawing registers
• An understanding of quality assurance processes throughout the project lifecycle
• Experience with electrical CAD software such as Bentley MicroStation or Autodesk AutoCAD
• Awareness of electrical engineering software such as PowerFactory and PSCAD
• Strong communication, organisation and time-management skills
• The ability to build effective relationships with internal teams, clients, stakeholders and subcontractors
• Thorough attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in a changing project environment
• Leadership aspirations and an interest in progressing towards leading an engineering design team
