Parks Victoria is seeking a Seasonal Ranger in Mansfield for a fixed term from 14 December 2026 to 11 April 2027. The role supports park management, visitor services and conservation across Taungurung Country and Alpine regions between Mansfield and the Wonnongatta.

You will work with a small team to maintain campground facilities, engage with communities and partners, and deliver education programs while upholding safety and visitor experiences.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in land management or conservation, or equivalent experience.
• Practical skills and experience in campground facilities and asset maintenance, ensuring safety and cleanliness for visitors.
• Experience in self-management and ability to work autonomously.
• Experience in customer service and strong interpersonal skills.
• Park management experience is beneficial but not essential.

Responsabilités

• Manage a range of parks and reserves on Taungurung Country across the Howqua and King river catchments, focusing on Alpine National Park segments between Mansfield and the Wonnongatta.
• Deliver projects and services including pest plant/animal control, education programs, and visitor infrastructure maintenance.
• Engage with Traditional Owners, partners, volunteers and commercial operators to support park experiences.

About the role

As part of our small team based out of Mansfield, you will help to manage a range of parks and reserves on Taungurung Country across the Howqua and King river catchments, with a focus on potions of the Alpine National Park between Mansfield and the Wonnongatta.

Our Seasonal Rangers are key to Parks Victoria providing exceptional experiences for visitors to Victoria's parks and reserves. As a Seasonal Ranger, you are responsible for the on-ground management of Parks Victoria's estate, consistent with organisational priorities, policies and procedures, ensuring that people can enjoy the outdoors and protecting the things that make our parks and reserves so special. You will work as part of a team in delivering a variety of projects and services including (but not limited to): working with Traditional Owners in joint management and other partnership arrangements; conservation program delivery (such as pest plants and animals, threatened species); visitor infrastructure and asset construction and maintenance (such as roads, walking tracks, day visitor areas and campgrounds); compliance and enforcement activities; the delivery of education programs; and engagement with the community, licensed tour operators and other commercial operations, and volunteers.

We're looking for someone with:

• Tertiary qualifications in land management or conservation, or equivalent experience.
• Practical skills and experience in the maintenance and management of campground facilities and assets, ensuring they're open, safe and clean for our visitors.
• Experience in self-management and the ability to work autonomously.
• Experience in customer service, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in park management would be beneficial but not essential
