Job summary

Far West Local Health District in Broken Hill, NSW is seeking a Registered Nurse for temporary full‑time maternity relief. You will provide safe nursing care to babies, children and families within a primary health care framework, supported by a strong, multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Current AHPRA registered nurse with operating theatre experience.
• Knowledge of ACORN standards and NSW Health policies relevant to OR.

Job description

This position qualifies for an annual Recruitment Incentive Package up to the value of $10,000 (conditions apply and may be pro-rata’d to your contracted or ordinary working hours, these payments are paid on a fortnightly basis) under the NSW Health Rural Health Workforce Incentive Scheme.

This scheme recognises the role key health workers play in enabling the delivery of rural and remote health services, and aims to provide incentives over and above award entitlements, to attract and retain staff in these areas.

• Current nursing registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with demonstrated experience in Operating Room/Critical Care Nursing.
• Demonstrated understanding of ACORN standards and NSW Ministry of Health policies related to Operating Theatre.
• Demonstrated application of evidence based practice and critical thinking to advocate for and implement individualised person centred care patient care.
• Evidence of participation in own professional development and commitment to maintaining competence and enhancement of skills, and willingness to apply and share professional expertise with colleagues.
• Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
• Demonstrated sound knowledge of infection control principles and WHS requirements.
• Demonstrated competence, confidence and accountability in the safe delivery of patient care in the operating room in the context of a multi‑disciplinary team.
• Demonstrated commitment to work and partner with Aboriginal and Torres Strait, Islander patients and families and employees to enhance health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients.
