Job summary

Far West Local Health District in Broken Hill is seeking an Aboriginal Health Practitioner for a Temporary Full Time position (until July 2027). The role focuses on delivering flexible, culturally appropriate health services to Aboriginal people across the Broken Hill Health Service, including ED presentations.

You will work on a 7-day rotating roster (weekdays afternoon/night shifts; weekends day/afternoon/night shifts) and receive remuneration of $37.86-$49.28 per hour plus superannuation,

Qualifications

• Certificate IV Aboriginal Primary Health Care Practice with current registration as an Aboriginal Health Practitioner.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and to liaise with other health professionals and external agencies to facilitate integrated care for Aboriginal people.
• Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, time management, and computer literacy including Microsoft package.
• Demonstrated understanding of the issues impacting on the health of Aboriginal people, particularly mental health, drug & alcohol, psychosocial, domestic violence and/or sexual assault issues.
• Ability to work unsupervised, use own initiative and take a lead role in initiating and carrying out community development activities.

Job description

This position qualifies for an annual Recruitment Incentive Package up to the value of $10,000 (conditions apply and may be pro-rata'd to your contracted or ordinary working hours, these payments are paid on a fortnightly basis) under the NSW Health Rural Health Workforce Incentive Scheme.

This scheme recognises the role key health workers play in enabling the delivery of rural and remote health services, and aims to provide incentives over and above award entitlements, to attract and retain staff in these areas.
