Job summary

Queensland Health's Microbiology team is seeking a Scientist to support timely pathology results for clients. You will perform routine and complex testing in a NATA-accredited laboratory and contribute to a high-performing, multi-skilled team.

Your role involves applying microbiology and molecular/PCR techniques, maintaining quality standards, and delivering accurate results with client satisfaction at the forefront.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated knowledge, expertise and skills within a Microbiology/MDU laboratory.
• Ability to work independently in a multi-skilled laboratory team under supervision.
• Knowledge of Microbiology/Molecular/PCR laboratory techniques.
• Apply established principles to routine and complex duties in a molecular lab with client-focused results.
• Identify and implement quality and service improvements per accreditation.

Job description

As the Scientist - Microbiology, you will work as part of a high performing team supporting the timely delivery of pathology results to clients. In addition, you will:

• Provide routine and complex testing of samples and related duties, following well established accredited protocols and standards within all areas of Microbiology and MDU.
• With demonstrated experience, or as experience builds, apply increasingly independent scientific judgement to more complex problems and decision making, under the scientific supervision or professional guidance of more senior staff.
• Deliver quality results to clients ensuring all aspects of a NATA accredited laboratory are adhered to.

About you

We are searching for someone with:

• Demonstrated knowledge, expertise and skills within a Microbiology/MDU laboratory.
• Demonstrated ability to participate in a multi-skilled laboratory team independently and under the supervision of more senior practitioners.
• Demonstrated knowledge, expertise and skills within a Microbiology / Molecular / PCR laboratory
• Demonstrated ability to apply established principles to routine and complex scientific duties in a multi-skilled and molecular laboratory with the provision of results and advice in a client focussed manner.
• Demonstrated ability to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation/certification
