Job summary

Dorevitch Pathology, a Healius business in Warrnambool, is seeking a motivated histology professional. You will perform histological procedures from specimen reception to diagnostic execution, and participate in FNA procedures, with strict attention to quality and safety.

You will contribute to QA activities, maintain current knowledge, and assist with staff training. A BSc or equivalent Medical Laboratory Science degree is required, with strong teamwork and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated knowledge and expertise within Biochemistry/Haematology or Blood bank.
• Sound knowledge of QC, QAP and troubleshooting.
• Ability to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities per accreditation.
• Perform duties with independence and minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine histological procedures from reception to diagnosis.
• Participate in attending FNA procedures.
• Record results in line with protocols.
• Maintain current scientific knowledge.

About the role

We are seeking an individual who is highly motivated to become part of a passionate, vibrant and engaged team who will be responsible for:

• Performing all routine histological procedures from point of specimen reception to execution of results for Pathological diagnosis, including specimen dissection
• Participate in attending FNA Procedures
• Recording of results in line with protocols
• Maintaining current scientific knowledge
• Participation in both routine and audit related Quality Assurance activities
• Contributing to continuous improvement and the development of new assays as required
• Participating in training staff
• Liaising with internal and/ or external stakeholders (referring practitioners) regarding test results or referrals as necessary
• Compliance and adherence with Policies and Procedures, Workplace Health and Safety Procedures and Quality Assurance Processes.

• Demonstrated knowledge, expertise and skills within the Biochemistry/Haematology or Blood bank
• Sound knowledge of QC, QAP and troubleshooting
• Demonstrated ability to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation/certification
• Perform duties with a high degree of independence and with infrequent supervision
