Job summary

Healius is seeking a Pathology Courier to pick up and transport pathology specimens, vaccines and related items to laboratories across multiple sites. The role involves handling 30+ stops per day and maintaining strong confidentiality and accuracy in specimen handling.

You will liaise with medical practitioners and the Medical Liaison Officer to ensure accurate store orders, prepare reports, manage stock, and follow safety and QA procedures.

Qualifications

• Valid open Australian driver’s licence with an excellent driving record.
• Ability to work rostered weekends and public holidays.
• Evidence of immunisation requirements including Hepatitis B.
• Strong written and verbal communication with stakeholders.
• Excellent time management with up to 30 stops per day.

Responsibilities

• Pick‑up and delivery of pathology samples, specimens, blood products, X‑rays, vaccines and clinical waste to and from referring customers.
• Liaise between referring medical practitioners and the Medical Liaison Officer regarding store orders.
• Prepare and deliver reports and manage stock in the main laboratory.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and data integrity.
• Follow procedures to complete correct specimen coding documentation.
• Adhere to WHS, QA processes and organisational policies.

Schedule Overview

• Week 1 – Wednesday, Thursday and Friday: 1300–2000 (0.5 hr break)
• Week 2 – Monday, Tuesday: 1300–2000 (0.5 hr break)
• Week 2 – Wednesday & Thursday: 1630–2300 (0.5 hr break)

About The Role

As Pathology Courier, you will be responsible for the picking-up and transportation of Pathology Samples, Specimens, Blood/Blood Products, X-rays and Vaccines, this could be across Medical Centres, Collection Centres, Nursing Homes, Hospitals, and Veterinarian Surgeries for delivery to Laboratories in various locations. You will be ensuring a safe and efficient process as you manage 30+ stops per day, playing a crucial part in providing quality health services to the people in our communities.

Key Responsibilities

• Pick‑up and delivery of Pathology Samples, Specimens, Blood/Blood Products, X-rays, Vaccines and clinical waste to and from referring customers
• Liaising between Referring Medical Practitioners and the Medical Liaison Officer with regards to store orders
• Preparation and delivery of reports and stock control in main laboratory
• Maintaining patient confidentiality and integrity
• Following operating procedure to complete correct specimen coding documentation
• Compliance and adherence with Policies and Procedures, Work Health and Safety Procedures and Quality Assurance processes

About You

• Valid open Australian driver’s license with an excellent driving record
• Ability to work various shifts including rostered weekends and public holidays
• Ability to provide evidence of immunisation requirements including Hepatitis B
• Great interpersonal skills you will use to liaise with different stakeholders as well as strong written communication skills
• Excellent time management skills, juggling up to 30 stops per day
• Physical capability to be able to handle equipment weighing regularly up to 10kg – 15kg
• The ability to follow instructions and use initiative to make sound decisions
• Previous courier experience is considered highly advantageous
