Job summary

Hunter Valley Grammar School in Maitland, NSW, seeks a fixed-term, full-time Classroom Teacher of Science for Year 7–12, commencing January 2027 for the 2027 school year.

Applicants should hold a Bachelor’s Degree in a science discipline with current NESA registration and be capable of teaching Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Earth and Environmental Science at Stage 6 (HSC/DP) with IB MYP knowledge. Commitment to wellbeing, service-learning and co-curricular contributions is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in the relevant science subject and current NESA registration.
• IB MYP knowledge or willingness to undertake IB PD.
• Ability to teach 7–12 Science and contribute to STEM activities.
• Commitment to student learning, collaboration and engagement with school values.
• Maintain WWCC clearance and ongoing professional learning.

Responsibilities

• Teach a full load of Science classes as per timetable.
• Provide an academically challenging, safe and engaging learning environment.
• Collaborate with colleagues to improve practice and student outcomes.
• Develop positive relationships with students, parents and staff.
• Support wellbeing and mentor groups in morning sessions and wellbeing lessons.
• Contribute to service-learning and co-curricular programs.
• Attend assemblies, PD days and school events as scheduled.
• Proficient use of the School’s LMS (TASS, Teams/OneNote, Toddle) and professional learning.
