Job summary

St Monica's College in Cairns invites applications for a Science Lab Assistant. This 12-hours-per-week, term-time permanent role supports the Science Lab Technician by preparing chemicals and equipment for classes and helping with practical lessons.

The successful candidate will collate orders, gather supplies, and maintain safety and cleanliness in the lab. Essential requirements include a Working with Children Blue Card and a commitment to the College’s ethos.

Qualifications

• Willingness to work in a team.
• Ability to work within school lesson times.
• Attention to detail in handling chemicals and equipment.
• Adherence to safety guidelines for chemicals and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assist Science Lab Technician to prepare and deliver chemicals and equipment to classes for practical lessons.
• Collate experiment orders from teachers and gather required equipment.
• Occasionally assist in classroom practical lessons as required.
• Return and clean up glassware and equipment after lessons.
• Hold a Working with Children Blue Card and support Catholic Education ethos.
