Job summary

Rochedale State High School in Brisbane's southern corridor is seeking an experienced Facilities Officer/Handyperson to join our team. You will support day-to-day upkeep of facilities and grounds, ensuring a safe, clean and welcoming learning environment for students and staff.

Responsibilities

• Carry out daily operational duties—mail, printing, room prep, stock management.
• Maintain school grounds; drains, gutters, waste, events.
• Perform security duties; operate systems, banking deposits, lock/unlock buildings.
• Identify hazards and maintain tools and equipment; WHS compliance.
• Arrange repairs and liaise with staff and tradespersons about maintenance and lost property.

Job description

Rochedale State High School is seeking an experienced and motivated Facilities Officer/Handyperson to join our team. Help maintain a safe, clean and welcoming learning environment for students, staff and the wider school community. Put your practical skills to work supporting the day-to-day upkeep of school facilities and grounds. This is a progressional position as per the Role Description. The successful applicant will be appointed to the lower classification with eligibility for progression to the next, once specific criteria have been met or demonstrated. Please note salary rate shown is reflective of both classification ranges.

Your Opportunity

• Carry out daily operational duties, including mail delivery, printing, photocopying, preparing rooms and halls, moving furniture, distributing supplies and maintaining stock and asset records.
• Maintain school grounds by clearing drains and gutters, collecting waste, completing immediate cleaning tasks and assisting with school events.
• Perform security duties, including operating security systems, depositing school funds at the appropriate banking institution and locking and unlocking buildings during core hours.
• Maintain a safe work environment by identifying hazards, complying with workplace health and safety requirements, managing equipment records and maintaining tools and equipment.
• Undertake or arrange repairs and maintenance of school facilities, furniture, equipment, locks, windows and swimming pools, including basic maintenance of equipment for students with disabilities, and liaise with relevant staff, tradespersons and students regarding maintenance, lost property and damage.

A current licence to drive a 25-seat bus would be advantageous but is not essential.
