Job summary

Point Cook Senior Secondary College seeks a Social Worker to join its wellbeing team in the student wellbeing hub. You will triage and refer students to the appropriate wellbeing specialists and manage caseloads with a focus on social and academic success.

The role emphasizes collaboration with teachers, families and external agencies, providing counselling and developing pathways to support diverse cohorts and at-risk students.

Qualifications

• Proven capacity to work effectively with children with diverse learning needs and their families/carers
• Highly developed communication, networking and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated capacity to work as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team
• Ability to liaise within the education community and beyond
• Eligibility: appropriate tertiary qualifications in Welfare, Community Services, Youth Work or related fields

Responsibilities

• Liaise with external service providers and assist teachers, students and families to access services
• Support wellbeing team to monitor social, emotional and learning progress and provide reports
• Implement and evaluate intervention programs to support curriculum and needs of identified groups
• Provide or facilitate counselling and guidance to students
• Develop pathways to success for students and advocate for those at risk
• Supervise and participate in the wellbeing hub during break times
• Develop links with student support services and external networks to optimise service provision
