Job summary

Department of Education in Western Australia seeks a Laboratory Technician to support safe science learning at Margaret River Senior High School. You will collaborate with science teachers to identify needs and manage inventory, ensuring efficient operation of the Science Learning Area.

Qualifications

• Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or valid visa with work rights for the term of the appointment.
• Working With Children Check before you start; and
• Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before you start.

Responsibilities

• Organise preparation areas and classroom laboratories to ensure a safe learning environment.
• Housekeeping of chemicals and equipment, including repairs and maintenance.
• Order supplies/equipment and assist with stock management tasks.
• Liaise with science teachers to determine product needs and future purchase requirements.
• Prepare chemicals, equipment and materials; design and construct teaching aids.
• Care for living organisms for study in compliance with laboratory practices and legislation.
