Job summary

Claremont College Randwick is seeking a part-time School Nurse to care for students, staff and visitors. The role requires a positive, communicative professional who enjoys working collaboratively in a school setting.

You will provide first aid, manage chronic health needs, oversee medications, and run the Health Centre. This position is part-time, Monday to Wednesday during term time, with some flexibility for school events.

Qualifications

• Registered nurse with AHPRA practising certificate.
• Senior First Aid or Advanced First Aid certificate.
• Current Working with Children Check.
• Experience with primary school aged children.
• Ability to manage medicines and medical supplies.
• Strong communication with students, staff and parents.

Responsibilities

• Provide first aid, nursing care and initial assessment of illness or injury.
• Oversee ongoing management of students with chronic health issues (diabetes, asthma).
• Oversee medication administration and development of health care plans.
• Manage the Health Centre and first aid equipment.
• Maintain student medical files and prepare medical kits for excursions and camps.

• Train teaching staff on medical requirements for specific students.
• Liaise with parents and health professionals regarding health concerns.

Claremont College is seeking applications for a part-time School Nurse to care for students, staff and visitors. We are seeking a positive, kind and enthusiastic person who enjoys working collaboratively, who is a good communicator, flexible and approachable.

The School Nurse will:

• Provide first aid, nursing care, initial assessment of illness or injury.
• Oversee the on-going management of students with chronic health issues such as diabetes and asthma.
• Oversee medication administration, health care procedures and the development of health care plans.
• Manage the first aid equipment and the running of the Health Centre.
• Manage and update student medical files and prepare medical kits for excursions and camps.
• Liaise with parents and communicate effectively with the community and relevant health professionals regarding health concerns of individuals.
• Maintaining records regarding health, illness and injury reporting on the schools medical platforms.
• Co-ordinate First Aid and CPR training for staff.
• Training teaching staff, where required, on medical requirements for specific students.

• Registered nurse with a current practising Certificate of registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency – AHPRA
• Senior First Aid or Advanced First Aid Certificate
• Current Working with Children Check
• Demonstrated successful professional experience involving Primary school aged children
• Demonstrated experience handling and controlling medicine, medical supplies and equipment
• Highly effective relationship development and management skills than can be effectively applied to a broad range people including students, staff and parents
• Excellent time management and organisational abilities and the demonstrated ability to be successful in a demanding and multifaceted role
• Developed written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to manage emergency situations in a careful and responsive manner

This is a job share position with another nurse. Hours of work will be Monday to Wednesday, 9.00am until 3.00pm, during term time only. A degree of flexibility will be required for some exceptions within the school calendar for example; sporting carnivals, annual child safe training and other whole school events and training as required by the Principal.
