Job summary

Catholic Education Diocese of Rockhampton invites applications for a Library Assistant at St Joseph's Catholic Primary School, Biloela. The role is term-time continuing for 11 hours per week, commencing Term 4, 2026 (6 October 2026).

The successful candidate will support classroom and library activities, manage borrowing processes, prepare displays and ensure a welcoming library environment. A current Blue Card and Australian work rights are required.

• Genuine interest in supporting the learning and development of students
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality when dealing with young people
• Ability to work well independently or in a team and take direction
• Genuine care for the wellbeing of students
• Adaptability and flexibility in a dynamic educational setting
• Ter tiary qualifications at Certificate level or equivalent knowledge, qualifications and experience would be highly regarded

Responsibilities

• Organise and coordinate Book Fairs and Book Club
• Process student and teacher borrowing and bulk loans
• Disseminate library information to staff
• Reinforce strict borrowing procedures for staff and students
• Assist Principal in purchasing library resources
• Attend Library Cluster Meetings or Diocesan Library Conferences/Video Conferences
• Maintain the library as an inviting space for learners
• Shelve and circulate resources, cover books and maintain resources
• Cull resources under Principal guidance
• Assist staff and students in locating resources
• Create and maintain inventory of technology resources
• Organise library working bees
• Set up displays in the library
