Job summary

Chullora Public School is opening our new public preschool and seeks a School Learning Support Officer to work full-time with preschool students under teacher supervision. You will assist with welfare and learning support to help children start strong in their educational journey.

The role requires ACECQA Certificate III or progress toward, Working with Children Check, and mandatory training. You will contribute across streams such as pre-school, vision/hearing, and bilingual support.

Qualifications

• Must be pursuing or hold ACECQA approved Certificate III in Children's Services or Early Childhood Education and Care.
• Working with Children Check Clearance.
• Complete mandatory Department of Education training and be willing to undertake first aid training.
• Administration of medications training provided based on student needs.
• Health support training provided based on student needs.

Position Information

Chullora Public School is excited to be opening our new public preschool, pending building and regulatory approvals. This initiative is part of the NSW Government’s commitment to deliver 100 new public preschools by 2027. Our new public preschool will provide quality play-based, intentional educational programs guided by the Early Years Learning Framework, to help all children make a strong start in life and learning and experience a successful transition to school.

About the Role

School Learning Support Officers provides support for students with identified diverse learning needs including disability in classrooms and other learning environments under the direction and supervision of a teacher to support the achievement of educational outcomes. This support includes student welfare, health and wellbeing activities as required. In addition School Learning Support Officers may provide specific support for students in the following streams or settings: pre-school, vision support, hearing support, and bilingual. Student Learning Support Officers working in these streams/settings have specific additional duties, in addition to the general duties for School Learning Support Officers that are required to be performed.

Essential Requirements

• On appointment must be working towards or hold an Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) approved Certificate III in Children’s Services or Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care.
• Working with Children Check Clearance
• Completion of mandatory training required by the Department of Education and a willingness to undertake first aid training relevant to the School Learning Support Officer role.
• Administration of Medications – training to be provided based on student needs.
• Health support training to be provided based on student needs (subject to transition provisions).

Staff undertaking roles in preschools will be required to demonstrate suitability and ongoing compliance with the Children (Education and Care Services) National Law (NSW) and Education and Care Services National Regulations (NSW), and NSW Department of Education policies and practices as implemented for public preschools. Conditions

Please note if you are 'working towards' an Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) approved Certificate III in Children’s Services or Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care, you will be appointed on a temporary basis until completion of the approved qualification. Failure to complete within twelve (12) months from your entry on duty date, will result in cessation of the temporary employment.
