Job summary

Ipswich Girls Grammar School in Ipswich, Queensland, is seeking an experienced Accountant to lead day-to-day financial operations and guide a finance team. Reporting to the CFO, you will turn financial data into clear insights, drive budgeting and long-term modelling, strengthen controls and support governance reporting.

You will bring tertiary accounting or commerce qualifications with CPA/CA, extensive commercial accounting experience, and strong communication with executives and boards.

Qualifications

• A relevant tertiary qualification in accounting or commerce, together with current CPA or CA qualification.
• Substantial commercial accounting experience, including leading a finance team.
• Experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, long-term modelling and executive-level analysis.
• Strong knowledge of accounting standards, taxation, statutory reporting, audit management, internal controls and financial governance.

Responsibilities

• Lead the School’s financial operations, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management and long-term financial modelling.
• Provide clear analysis and strategic financial advice to the CFO, Principal, Executive Team, Board and Finance, Audit and Risk Committee.
• Oversee statutory reporting, taxation, funding acquittals, external audit requirements and robust internal controls.
• Provide financial leadership for asset management, capital works, valuations, depreciation and lifecycle planning.
• Lead, mentor and develop a cohesive finance team.
• Identify and implement improvements to financial systems, reporting, controls and business processes.
