Job summary

Trinity Anglican School in Cairns is seeking a Secondary School Counsellor to provide professional counselling, wellbeing support and early intervention for students in years 7–12. Reporting to the Wellbeing Leader, you will work with staff, families and external agencies to help students navigate challenges and build resilience.

This fixed-term, term-time role offers a competitive salary and relocation options, based at the White Rock Campus.

Qualifications

• Qualifications in Psychology, Guidance and Counselling, Social Work or related counselling discipline.
• Current registration with AHPRA or equivalent accreditation applicable to Queensland.
• Experience working with children and young people.
• Blue Card/Teachers registration or equivalent where required.
• First aid certification HLTAID012 and CPR or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Provide short-term counselling, wellbeing support and early intervention services to students.
• Support students experiencing social, emotional, behavioural and mental health challenges.
• Conduct assessments and implement appropriate counselling and wellbeing interventions.
• Maintain confidential, accurate records in line with legislative requirements.
• Collaborate with staff, families and external agencies to ensure appropriate support.
• Advise staff on student wellbeing matters and facilitate wellbeing programs.
• Assist with student protection processes and respond to wellbeing concerns.
• Support the school's pastoral care framework and wellbeing initiatives.
• Contribute to wellbeing education programs and professional development for staff.
• Participate in relevant wellbeing, pastoral care and multidisciplinary meetings.
