Job summary

St Peter's Primary School, Stockton is seeking a Canteen Officer to manage daily canteen operations, open/close shifts, and serve students and staff. The role runs 10 hours per week (5 hours on Wednesdays and Fridays) as a temporary position until 20 December 2027, within a Catholic Diocesan school community in Maitland-Newcastle.

You will follow food handling and cash handling policies, work collaboratively with staff and volunteers, and contribute to a welcoming, safe school food service

Qualifications

• Demonstrated understanding of current Work, Health and Safety requirements.
• Knowledge of preparation, proper storage and disposal of food.
• Knowledge of cleaning, and hand hygiene.
• Practical experience in the operation of a café or canteen.
• Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment and the ability to achieve organisational and team values, goals and objectives and to behave professionally.
• Experience in handling cash.

Responsibilities

• Maintain day-to-day operations of the school canteen, including opening and closing.
• Prepare and sell menu items as per the canteen menu.
• Follow relevant food handling and money handling policies.
• Provide friendly, customer-focused service to students and staff within the school community.
• Support the development of strong relationships within the school community, in particular with students, parents and volunteers, teachers and other school personnel.
