Job summary

Genesis Christian College, a vibrant Brisbane school, is seeking a passionate Cook to join the Eden Eats Canteen team. You will prepare fresh, nutritious meals, supervise kitchen staff and contribute to a welcoming environment for students, staff and families.

The role is 5 days per week during term time with some school holiday work. You should hold a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent), a current Food Safety certificate and a solid understanding of WHS.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent).
• Current Food Safety Certificate.
• Strong understanding of WHS and safe food handling practices.
• Experience in a school canteen or high-volume kitchen environment (highly regarded).
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure and deliver quality at scale.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Eligibility to hold a Working with Children Check (Blue Card).

Responsibilities

• Preparing and cooking a variety of fresh, high-quality meals.
• Supporting the coordination and supervision of kitchen staff and volunteers.
• Assisting with catering, food preparation, and counter service during busy periods.
• Maintaining efficient kitchen operations and high presentation standards.
• Ensuring all food safety, hygiene, and WHS practices are consistently met.
