Job summary

Department of Education & Training, Victoria is seeking an Occupational Therapist to support school-aged students. The role focuses on high-level allied health services, wellbeing interventions, and coordinating student support within a multidisciplinary team to improve learning and wellbeing outcomes.

The incumbent will contribute to policy development, assist teachers with educational programs for students with additional needs, and provide expert advice on complex cases.

Qualifications

• Ability to provide expert consultation to schools, healthcare providers and families on evidence-based occupational therapy.
• Knowledge of student wellbeing issues and disability inclusion in schools.
• Experience initiating and implementing programs, procedures and policies for resilience.
• Experience in critical incident response is desirable.
• Excellent communication and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Providing high level Allied Health support services to school age students to improve student learning.
• Undertaking advanced wellbeing interventions that support students and schools.
• Assisting the coordination of student support services within a multi-disciplinary team.
• Contributing to student wellbeing policy development.
• Providing leadership within a multi-disciplinary student support team.
• Supporting teachers in developing educational programs for students with additional needs.
• Providing authoritative professional advice on student wellbeing issues.
• Collaborating with other student support services in complex cases.
• Liaising with community service organisations and hospitals regarding student needs.
