Job summary

Austal in Fremantle is seeking a Scheduler to plan and coordinate major Defence shipbuilding programs. You will develop, maintain and analyse production schedules aligning engineering releases, material availability and milestones, enabling informed decisions.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or higher in Project Management, Engineering, Construction Management or similar, or equivalent experience in shipbuilding, defence or heavy manufacturing.
  • Formal training and practical capability with Primavera P6.
  • Strong understanding of schedule logic, critical path, progress measurement and baseline control.
  • Hands-on experience developing and maintaining detailed schedules in complex production or project environments.
  • Ability to work closely with production, engineering and supply chain teams to validate progress and resolve planning issues.
  • Solid knowledge of project management principles, including Earned Value Management.
  • Eligibility for a Defence Security Clearance.

  • Gather and validate progress updates from Production, Engineering and Workface Planning.
  • Analyse critical path, float and trends to spot emerging schedule risks early.
  • Flag impacts ahead of time and help shape recovery and mitigation plans.
  • Work with lead schedulers to align subcontractor and cross-functional schedules.
  • Develop and manage Primavera P6 schedules using approved coding and progress methods.

Job description

Based in Fremantle, the Scheduler will play a key role in planning and coordinating the delivery of major Defence shipbuilding programs. In this role, you will develop, maintain and analyse detailed production schedules that align engineering release, material availability, workforce sequencing and key program milestones.

Working within a complex Defence shipbuilding environment, you will ensure activities are logically structured, accurately progressed and fully integrated with program-level schedules. Your insights will provide production, planning and project teams with clear visibility of progress, risks and priorities, enabling informed decision-making and proactive schedule management.
